DE PERE, Wisconsin- The Knox College football team was dealt their first loss of the season when they visited St. Norbert College. Knox (3-1) was having difficulty running the ball with only 13 yards rushing, a huge difference maker in the game.
Â
The Green Knights struck first with two touchdowns in the first quarter, but Knox was able to convert late in the first quarter when quarterback Matt McCaffrey scrambled for a 15-yard score. However, the Fire were unable to score again until Jesus Flores hit a field goal in the third quarter. By then, Knox trailed 58-10. Midway through the 4th quarter Hector Lopez hit Malik Hamilton on a 68-yard touchdown pass to complete the Prairie Fire scoring.
Â
Knox was largely able to keep from turning the ball over, with the lone giveaway coming in the third quarter. McCaffrey finished 19-of-31 with 168 yards, adding 26 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Hamilton caught seven passes for 141 yards and a score. Quinn Sharp led the defense with nine total tackles.
