JACKSONVILLE, Illinois- It took an extra period, but free basketball led to a victory for the Prairie Fire women's basketball team. Knox put together a dominant first half, but struggled to find the bottom of the net in quarters three and four. A bucket by Jarrelyn McCall with 21 seconds left tied the game up and gave the Fire the momentum they needed to outscore IC 8-5 in overtime to bring home the victory.
McCall finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, as well as the clutch bucket to send the game to overtime. Morgan Potter followed closely behind with 12 points and six boards, but the leader in points on the night was Hailey Leinart who came off the bench and dropped 25 including 5-of-11 from three-point land. Kyra Huffman also chipped in nine points and a team high nine rebounds.
The Fire have now won four of their last five games and will take a week off before they take on rival Monmouth College at home on January 24.
