GALESBURG, Illinois- The Prairie Fire pulled off an impressive conference win at home, defeating Monmouth College by a final score of 77-73. The Scots were in a tie for first place in the conference with St. Norbert heading into the game. Blake Godbold put on his best winning effort scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 boards in the contest.
The Fire jumped out to as much as a 14-point lead in the first half, but Monmouth quickly closed that gap to bring it within just one by halftime. However, Knox was able to outrun the Scots and outscored them 40-37 in the second half. Aside from Godbold, Marko Protic, Deryk Ruple and Jonathan Damota all scored in double figures putting up 13, 12 and 10 respectively. Damota also dished out six assists in the victory.
With the victory, Knox moves to 4-14 on the season and 2-9 in the Midwest Conference. Knox will look to improve on their conference record when they travel to Lake Forest College on January 27.
