APPLETON, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped a conference match to Lawrence 3-0 on Friday night.

Knox (4-14, 0-4 MWC) led by a narrow 7-6 margin early in the first set, but after some back-and-forth the Vikings took an 18-13 lead. The Prairie Fire fought back to 18-15, but Lawrence used another run to earn the victory 25-19.

The Vikings took a commanding 9-1 lead early in the second set, but Knox battled back to just a four-point deficit late in the set. Leading 20-16, Lawrence closed out the set with five straight points to win 25-16.

The Vikings jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the third set, but the Prairie Fire once again found a way back in the game. Knox worked it back to 17-22, but Lawrence held on for a 25-19 win.

Kaitlyn Haase and Marissa Akers each tallied eight kills to lead the Prairie Fire. Mady Ferris added 15 digs and Emily Mosher accumulated 11 asssists.

Knox will look to bounce back and earn their first conference victory when they travel to St. Norbert on October 6.
