GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Illinois Institute of Technology 79-43 on Wednesday night.
Knox (1-3) fell behind 13-0 early in the first half, but Justin Windt hit a shot to put the Prairie Fire on the board. Knox went on a run at the end of the first half with 9 of the last 13 points, but still trailed 44-19 at halftime.
The Prairie Fire pulled to within 23 points early in the second half, but the Scarlet Hawks pulled away to lead by more than 30 for most of the half.
Windt led Knox with 12 points and added five boards and three assists. Jordan Rayner also poured in 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Malcolm Bray led the Prairie Fire with seven rebounds and four assists.
"We played well at times, but we have to put together a consistent 40 minute effort from everyone," said head coach Kevin Walden. "IIT is a very good team and they showed it tonight."
Knox returns to action on November 24 as they host Milwaukee School of Engineering as part of the Thanksgiving Classic.
