GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team defeated Rockford 74-38 on Wednesday night.
Knox (2-1) jumped out to a 9-0 lead early in the first quarter and led 17-4 heading into the second period. The Prairie Fire stepped up in the second quarter to take a 37-8 lead into halftime.
The Regents played closer in the second half, but Knox still won every quarter to add to their lead and earn the victory.
Jarrelyn McCall led the Prairie Fire with 16 points, thanks to a 3-for-5 showing from beyond the arc. Kyra Huffman added 14 points to along with seven rebounds. 14 different players scored for Knox in the game.
"That was a quality win, especially coming off of finals and not having much practice," said head coach Emily Cline. "It was great to see so many players contribute."
The Prairie Fire return to action on November 24 when they host Central for the first day of the Thanksgiving Classic.
