GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team defeated St. Norbert 2-1 on Saturday afternoon to win their third straight Midwest Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Regional.
Knox (13-4-2) fell behind early when the Green Knights netted a goal in the 23
rd minute. Jessica Peterson scored the equalizer for the Prairie Fire in the 41
st minute on an assist by Olivia Grierson. Brooklyn Deming follow just two minutes later with the game-winner on an assist from Courtney Dramm and Lydia Mitchell.
Knox outshot St. Norbert 18-7 on the day, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
"It's an incredible feat from an incredible group of women," said head coach Chris Haught-Thompson. "They worked so hard this weekend. We will celebrate it today and find out what's next on Monday."
