RIPON, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire women's basketball team fell to Ripon 67-42 in their Midwest Conference opener on Friday night.
Knox (3-3, 0-1 MWC) played close with the Redhawks in the first quarter, but trailed 14-13 heading into the second quarter. Ripon took control in the second period, outscoring the Prairie Fire 15-3 and taking a 29-16 lead into halftime.
Knox played a close third quarter with the Redhawks, but still could not gain any ground and trailed 44-27 as they started the final quarter. Ripon used their best scoring quarter to pull away even further, despite the Prairie Fire also having their best offensive period.
Morgan Potter led Knox with 10 points, while Jarrelyn McCall added nine of her own. McCall also dished out five assists.
"We struggled tonight, especially offensively," said head coach Emily Cline. "We played much better in the second half."
The Prairie Fire continue their MWC road trip on December 1 as they battle St. Norbert.
