Knox Falls to Ripon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire softball team dropped a conference doubleheader to Ripon College on Sunday.
 
Knox (5-21, 1-11 MWC) fell behind early 1-0 in the 1st.  Ripon added to their lead with a 1 run 3rd to take a 2-0 lead.  The Prairie Fire came storming back and put together a 4 run 4th inning and a 1 run 5th to take a 5-2 lead.  However, Ripon rallied and scored 7 in the 7th inning to defeat Knox by a score of 9-5.
 
The Prairie Fire fell behind 1-0 in the 1st inning but quickly tied up the score in the bottom half of the inning.  The 3rd inning saw Ripon score 5 to take a 6-1 lead.  Knox was able to get one back in the bottom half of the inning to bring them within 4.  Ripon added a run in the 4th but Knox rallied and scored 5 in the bottom half and added another run in the 5th to take an 8-7 lead.  Ripon retook the lead with a 2 run 6th inning and the Prairie Fire could not muster a comeback.  The game ended 9-8 in favor of Ripon.
 
Cassie Hipp ended the day with 2 hits, 3 RBIs and 1 run.  Cammie Stein added 3 hits, 2 RBIs and 2 runs.
 
The Prairie Fire will host Iowa Wesleyan University on April 24.
