Volleyball Earns Four Set Victory Over Eureka

Box Score EUREKA, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Eureka 3-1 on Tuesday night.
 
Knox (4-5) took down the Red Devils 25-21 in the first set. After storming out to a 9-3 lead, the Prairie Fire saw Eureka battle back to with at point at 14-13 and 21-20. Knox held on for the victory. In the second set, the Prairie Fire held an early 4-3 advantage. However, the Red Devils quickly took control and ran away with a 25-12 win. Eureka took an early lead in the third set, but Knox came back and forced an 18-18 tie. The Prairie Fire scored seven of the last ten points to take the third set 25-21. Knox took a commanding lead early in the fourth set by building a 9-2 advantage. Eureka brought the score to within three late in the set, but the Prairie Fire held on to win the set and the match.
 
Katie Anderson led the Prairie Fire with 11 kills, followed closely by Marissa Akers (9) and Autumn Schneider (8). Kylie Wolf racked up 28 assists and Mady Ferris added 22 digs. Schneider managed four blocks on the night as well.
 
"We played really well this evening despite coming off of a tough weekend and practicing at an alternative facility," said head coach Ashley McDonough. "This team is showing their resiliency and ability to bounce back and focus on the immediate present. We still have a lot of improving to do, but the team is on track for this coming weekend at our home tournament. We had four attackers hit over .300, Kylie Wolf put up 28 assists, and Mady added another 22 digs to her impressive running total. Overall it was a good night."
 
Knox will host the #MarissaStrong Tournament on September 14 and 15.
