PELLA, Iowa—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Central on Tuesday night.
Knox (2-2-1) took the lead midway through the first half when Bre Moreira found the net for her first goal of the season. The Prairie Fire held their narrow advantage through the half, but the Dutch netted the equalizer early in the second half. Knox was able to keep Central off the board for the remainder of the half and forced an overtime. Neither team was able to score in a pair of overtime periods.
Heading into overtime, the Dutch held a 14-9 advantage in shots. The Prairie Fire outshot Central 7-2 during overtime, but the Dutch held the 9-6 advantage in shots on goal for the game. Goalie Sierra Daniger grabbed eight saves on the night to keep Knox in the game.
The Prairie Fire will continue their road swing when they travel to Marian on September 16.
