FON DU LAC, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team defeated Marian 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Knox (3-2-1) struck first with a goal by Brooklyn Deming in the seventh minute. Lydia Mitchell picked up an assist on the play. The Sabres answered with a goal of their own midway through the first half to knot the score up heading into halftime. Yvette Rodriguez put the Prairie Fire back ahead in the 62
nd minute on a header from five yards out. Olivia Grierson added some insurance when she netted the first goal of her career in the 83
rd minute. Rodriguez fed her to pick up an assist.
Knox outshot Marian 27-6, including a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. Goal keeper Katy Coseglia earned her second win of the season in goal.
The Prairie Fire will head to Wisconsin-Whitewater on September 19 in their final tune-up before conference play begins.
