WHITEWATER, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team tied 0-0 with regionally ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday.
The Warhawks outshot Knox (3-2-2) by a margin of 14-13, but the Prairie Fire held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. Knox and Wisconsin-Whitewater matched up well as they were both ranked in the top-10 of the North Region by United Soccer Coaches last week. The Warhawks check in at number five in this week's poll, while the Prairie Fire are still receiving votes.
Goalkeeper Sierra Daniger made three saves to preserve the shutout, her second of the season.
"It was a really fun game to be a part of tonight. Both sides battled and had good chances," said head coach Chris Haught-Thompson. "We played our way for a complete game and that's something we've been striving for. To do so against that quality of opponent is an exciting feat as we head to conference this weekend."
Knox will host Illinois College on September 22 to begin conference play.
