JACKSONVILLE, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team fell to MacMurray on the road on Tuesday evening.

Knox (4-10) played close sets with the Highlanders in the first two sets, but fell behind quickly in the final set to lose 0-3. The Prairie Fire stormed out to a 5-0 lead in the first set and held an 18-15 lead later on as well, but MacMurray battled back to win the set 25-23. In the second set, Knox held a 10-6 lead, but the Highlanders went on a 9-2 run to take a 15-12 lead. The Prairie Fire tied it back up at 18-all and took a 19-18 lead, but managed only one more point in the set to fall 20-25. MacMurray jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the third set and rolled to a 25-12 win.

Marissa Akers added four more blocks (1 solo, 3 assists) to bring her total to an impressive 24 on the season. Katie Anderson added seven kills to lead the team, while pitching in a block assist and 10 digs. Mady Ferris racked up 17 digs and Emily Mosher set for 13 assists.

The Prairie Fire will return to Jacksonville to battle Illinois College on September 26 to begin the conference season.
