GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire women's soccer team defeated Ripon 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. The newly renovated Jorge Prats Field was dedicated before the men's game
Knox (6-2-2, 2-0-0) ran their winning streak to three games and remain perfect through two conference games.
The Prairie Fire played behind for much of the game after Ripon took a lead in the seventh minute. The Redhawks added another goal in the 37
th minute to add to the lead, but Knox responded with two minutes left in the first half when Cayne Randle scored her first goal of the season. Michaela Thawley assisted on the goal.
Rosie Medina tied the game in the 70
th minute and Cayne Randle followed with the game winner less than a minute later. Medina picked up the assist on the final goal.
Knox outshot the Redhawks 15-3 on the day and held a 13-2 advantage in shots on goal.
"Ripon showed that they are dangerous team," said head coach Chris Haught-Thompson. "We didn't play like we are capable, but again found a way to win. We will have to play better tomorrow to come away with a victory."
The Prairie Fire return to action when they face nationally ranked St. Norbert on September 30 in a conference game.
