ROCKFORD, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Rockford in straight sets on Tuesday night.
 
Knox (3-2) stormed out to a 9-4 lead in the first set, but the Regents rallied to a within a point at 10-9. Knox pulled away in the middle of the set to win 25-15.  The second set was close in the early going as the teams battled back and forth. The Prairie Fire held a 12-11 edge before expanding their lead with four straight points. Knox cruised to a 25-19 victory in the second set. The Prairie Fire took a quick lead in the third set that found them up 11-3. Rockford made a small run to cut the deficit to 13-6, but Knox came away with an easy 25-14 win.
 
Autumn Schneider impressed in this match as she racked up 16 kills and a block. Katie Anderson also added seven kills. Kylie Wolf led the Prairie Fire with 16 assists and Mady Ferris kept up her torrid pace with 21 more digs.

"Tonight was definitely a team win, but we found the most success from our middles," said head coach Ashley McDonough. "Marissa Akers hit .625 and Autumn Schneider hit .444. We saw the hole and capitalized on it. Our setters did a good job of feeding them balls. And of course Mady Ferris played incredible defense. She averaged 7 digs/set again."
 
Knox returns to action at the North Park Quad on September 7 and 8.
