GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to Lake Forest 82-62 on Saturday night.
Â
The Foresters jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but Blake Godbold did a good job keeping Knox in the game with a three-pointer followed by a jump shot. Lake Forest quickly took a double-digit lead and the Prairie Fire found themselves down by 18 at the half. Lake Forest shot 53.3% from the field in the first half.
Â
Justin Windt started strong in the second half. Windt has emerged as one of the most consistent players on the team and a dominant post presence as he finished the game with 14 Points and nine rebounds—leading the Prairie Fire in both categories.
Â
Ultimately, the deficit would be too large for the Prairie Fire to overcome. Both teams would empty their bench in the last minutes of play.
Â
Deryk Ruple added 11 points and Goldbold poured in 10 and grabbed six boards.
Â
The Prairie Fire will travel to Illinois College on January 30.
