BELOIT, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a contest to Beloit 99-68 on Saturday afternoon.
Jaelon Brooks put Knox up early when he made a layup less than 30 seconds into the game. The teams exchanged leads over the next nine minutes and were tied 15-15 with 10:52 left in the half. The Buccaneers began to pull away over the remainder of the half, leading by double-digits at times. Beloit held a 43-36 lead heading into the intermission.
The Bucs expanded their lead back into the double-digits early in the second half. Bruce Gaitor converted a layup with 14:57 left in the game to pull the game within 10, but the Prairie Fire would get no closer for the duration of the game.
Malcolm Bray led Knox with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Jordan Rayner added 13 points thanks to a 2-for-5 showing from long-range. Gaitor also poured in 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers. Wes Jolly pulled down a team-high eight boards and scored six points.
The Prairie Fire will return home on February 13 to battle Illinois College.
