GALESBURG, Illinois—The Prairie Fire volleyball team fell to Illinois College 0-3 in the Midwest Conference opener on Wednesday night.

Knox fell behind 10-4 in the opening set, but battled back to a 10-14 deficit. The Lady Blues pulled ahead 17-10, but the Prairie Fire again made a run to pull within five. Illinois College held on for the 25-19 win in the first set.

The Lady Blues scored the first six points of the second set and pulled ahead 12-2 in the early going. Knox made a late run, but fell 25-8 in set two.

Illinois College jumped out to an 11-2 lead early in the third set, but Knox came within seven late in the set. The Lady Blues went on an 8-4 run to close out the final set and win the match.

Catessa Duran led the Prairie Fire with 12 kills. Mady Ferris added 21 digs and Kylie Wolf notched 11 assists.

"Illinois College is a good team," said head coach Pat Barry. "We stood our ground in the first set, but IC used their momentum to get out of here in three sets."

Knox will travel to Beloit on September 28 to battle the Buccaneers.
