DE PERE, Wisconsin—The Prairie Fire men's basketball team fell to St. Norbert 83-55 on Saturday afternoon.
The Green Knights jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first five minutes of play, but Knox scored four straight to cut into the lead. The teams traded leads for the rest of the half, but Knox led 31-30 headed into halftime.
St. Norbert came out of the gates strong in the second half and built up a double-digit lead four minutes into play. The Prairie Fire remained in the game over the next six minutes, but the Green Knights pulled away further in the final minutes.
Jordan Rayner shot 5-of-8 on the day to lead the Prairie Fire with 15 points. Matthew Leary was 3-for-3 from long-range to add 11 points.
"We played a very strong first half," said head coach Ben Davis. "Staying with St. Norbert for so long on the road is a testament to our hard work. They just got hot down the stretch and we couldn't quite keep up."
Knox will return to action on January 21 as they host Lawrence.
