Volleyball Earns Split at Augustana Tourney

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team picked up a big victory over host Augustana on Saturday morning, before falling to Wisconsin-Platteville in the afternoon.

Knox came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Vikings 21-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-18, 15-13. The Pioneers then defeated the Prairie Fire 25-15, 25-21, 25-12 in the second match.

Katie Anderson racked up 55 assists and 27 digs on the day to lead the Prairie Fire. Catessa Duran added 20 kills and five blocks. Autumn Schneider picked up 15 kills and four blocks. Emme Patton also turned in 40 digs, while Caroline Wolters tallied 31 digs.

"The Augustana victory was a major win for us," said head coach Pat Barry. "They are a good team and we came back from a 2-0 deficit. With our backs against the wall, we played probably our best volleyball of the year so far. I am very proud of that victory and it should give us a confidence boost with conference play beginning soon."

Knox will face a tough test right away as they travel to Cornell on September 24 to kick off league play.
