BELOIT, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Beloit 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to move to 1-1 in Midwest Conference play.

The Buccaneers earned a 28-26 win in the first set, after an intense effort and back-and-forth play from both teams. 

An 8-8 tie in the second set was broken by a 7-1 run by the Prairie Fire. Beloit made a run of their own late in the set, but Knox scored the last four points to win the set 25-19.

The Prairie Fire used a 4-0 run to break an 11-11 tie in the third set and cruised to another 25-19 win to take the 2-1 advantage in the match.

Knox leapt out to a 10-2 lead in the fourth set and finished strong with a 25-12 victory to take the match.

Catessa Duran led Knox with a whopping 20 kills for a .217 attack percentage. Katie Anderson talled 39 assists and 13 digs for the Prairie Fire. Autumn Schneider racked up 10 kills, while Allie Dockins added eight. Emme Patton led the team with 21 digs.

"This was a great bounceback performance after a tough matchup last night," said head coach Pat Barry. "We executed our game plan and were able to bounce back after a tough loss in that first set."

Knox will return to action as they host crosstown rival Carl Sandburg College on September 27.
