CHICAGO, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 game to Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday night.
The game was scoreless through the first half with the Scarlet Hawks firing off five shots and Knox shooting once.
IIT broke through in the 72nd minute with a goal and they held on for the victory.
The Scarlet Hawks outshot the Prairie Fire 13-5 overall, but only held a slight 6-5 edge in shots on goal.
Lydia Mitchell finished with three shots on goal, while Olivia Grierson and Brooklyn Deming each added one.
"It was a very close game throughout," said head coach Taylor Houck. "IIT got off more shots than us, but overall I thought our shot quality was very good. We just didn't quite find the back of the net against a strong team."
Knox will look to pick up their first victory of the season when they travel to Simpson on September 8.
