GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team defeated Monmouth 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon to move to 1-1-1 in Midwest Conference play.
Knox got on the board early when Autumn Crow found the back of the net in just the 11th minute of the game.
Isabella Shubert followed with a goal of her own in the 20th minute to give the Prairie Fire a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
Knox outshot the Fighting Scots 10-3 overall, including a 4-2 edge in shots on goal.
Carina Escobar earned her second shutout in conference play with two saves in goal for the Prairie Fire.
"We set the tone early today," said head coach Rob Battisson. "It's always great to beat Monmouth, especially when we can play our game throughout. We played well in all facets of the game today."
Knox returns to action as they host Lawrence on October 8 for senior day.
