GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 league game to Lawrence on Saturday.
The Vikings scored in the seventh minute of the game to take an early lead.
The two teams looked evenly matched through most of the game, but Lawrence got a break in the 28th minute as they were awarded a penalty kick. They converted and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The Vikings outshot Knox 8-5 overall, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
"We got some bad luck early on," said head coach Rob Battisson. "They scored early and then got that penalty kick. We had some quality shots on goal, but the Lawrence goalie was up to the task."
Knox will return to action as they host Cornell on October 10.
