GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped a 3-0 conference match against Monmouth on Wednesday night.

Knox started off hot in each of the three sets, but the Fighting Scots took control quickly in the first set to win 25-13. 

After jumping out to a 5-2 lead early in the second set, the Prairie Fire found themselves down 10-8. The teams changed leads six more times before a late 20-20 tie. Monmouth outscored Knox 5-2 to close out the second set 25-22.

The Prairie Fire held a 12-6 in the third set, but the Fighting Scots stormed back with a 10-1 run to take a 16-13 lead. Knox rallied to a deficit of just 18-17, but never reclaimed the lead and fell 25-20.

Katie Anderson racked up 27 assists to lead the Prairie Fire. Emme Patton tallied 27 digs and Catessa Duran added 11 kills. Maya McEwen and Caroline Wolters also had seven kills apiece.

"We came out pretty flat in the first set and it was just an uphill battle from there," said head coach Pat Barry. "We fought in the second and third sets and if a few things go our way we come away with a win in set two and totally change the momentum, but it just didn't happen."

Knox returns to action as they travel to Trinity Christian College for the Troll Invite this weekend.
