Box Score CHICAGO, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's basketball team dropped a 72-42 non-conference game at No. 14 University of Chicago on Friday.
Knox jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, but the Maroons quickly took the advantage and held a 22-6 lead after the first quarter.
Chicago expanded their lead by 32 by halftime, but the Prairie Fire showed some fight in the third quarter by outscoring the Maroons 13-6.
Chicago quickly took back control in the fourth quarter and cruised to a 30 point victory.
Kristin Herndon led Knox with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting. She added eight rebounds. Catessa Duran tallied eight points and seven boards.
"Chicago is one of the best teams in the country and showed why today," said head coach Kira Mowen. "They are 11-0 now and play well in all facets of the game. We certainly learned a lot about ourselves and what we need to do to keep improving."
The Prairie Fire return to action on December 31 as they continue their road trip at Mount Mary University.
