CARLINVILLE, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team defeated Blackburn 3-1 on Tuesday night to move to 3-4 on the season.

Knox won the first set 25-22 before falling to the Beavers 25-21 in the second set. The Prairie Fire won the final two sets 25-22 and 25-18.

Catessa Duran racked up 21 kills to lead Knox. Abbie Layne added 12 kills of her own. Katie Anderson tacked on another 40 assists after a record breaking performance last Saturday. Emme Patton tallied 24 digs, while Anderson added 21. Peyton Balfour picked up three blocks on the night.

"We bounced back from a tough loss against Eureka on Saturday," said head coach Pat Barry. "We still have some work to do, but we still played much better tonight. We need to be more consistent as we played very well against Dominican on Saturday, but then fell flat against Eureka."

The Prairie Fire return to action on September 17 as they travel to Loras to match up against St. Mary's and Webster.
