GRINNELL, Iowa - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team opened their Midwest Conference season with a 0-0 tie at Grinnell on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers and Knox traded shots fairly evenly in the first half with Grinnell holding a slight 5-4 edge.
The Pioneers ramped up their play in the second half with 6 more shots, but the Prairie Fire were up to the task.Â
Grinnell held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal for the game, but Knox goalkeeper Carina Escobar saved all eight attempts.
"Grinnell is a much improved team this year," said head coach Rob Battisson. "We are still looking for our first win, but this was a good result against a good team."
Knox returns to action as they travel to Beloit on October 1.
