Box Score BELOIT, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team lost to Beloit 1-0 on Saturday to move to 0-1-1 in Midwest Conference play. Knox tied with the Buccaneers in the MWC Tournament finals last season with Beloit advancing on penalty kicks.
The teams played to a scoreless tie through the first half, but the Buccaneers broke through early in the second half with a goal in the 47th minute.
Beloit outshot the Prairie Fire 16-3 overall, including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.
Knox goalkeeper Carina Escobar reeled in seven saves.
"We are playing good defense overall," said head coach Rob Battisson. "We need to be more consistent in getting quality shots off on the offensive side. Right now we are forcing our defense to be perfect and that's a tough game to play."
The Prairie Fire return to action as they host Monmouth on October 4.
