MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 conference game to Cornell on Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams scored a goal halfway through the first half to take an early lead. Cornell added another goal in the 64th minute.
Emily Jacobs found the back of the net for Knox in the 76th minute to score the first goal of her career and cut the Rams' lead to one.
Cornell added a final goal in the 89th minute to secure the victory.
The Prairie Fire and Rams each totaled 23 shots, with Cornell holding a 12-8 advantage in shots on goal.
"We actually played pretty well in the first half and outshot Cornell 13-9," said head coach Annie Gerdes. "A few breaks here and there and the outcome is different in this one, but the score is the score and we need to get back to work for our next game."
Knox returns to action on October 14 as they host Beloit.
