Volleyball Selects Jeffrey Gomer as Superfan

GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire volleyball team will recognize Professor Jeffrey Gomer as their Superfan at their game on Wednesday, October 25. Jeffrey Gomer is an Assistant Professor and Professor of Practice in the Business and Management program at Knox College. He has been at Knox since the fall of 2016. Each Prairie Fire athletic team is selecting a different Knox College Faculty or Staff member to celebrate as having a significant impact on their team and the Athletic Department.

The volleyball team voted to share their appreciation of Professor Gomer for being at so many of their games. He is at nearly every Knox sporting event cheering on all of our teams. He has a real passion for his work and enjoys getting to know our athletes and his students. He comes to many away games as well and even stops by to watch practices sometimes.

"Professor Gomer is one of the only professors that you constantly see not just at our games, but other teams' games as well," said senior Peyton Balfour. "The volleyball team hasn't had a lot of home games this year and he still makes the time to come and support us!"

Professor Gomer won the David Robinson Fan of the Year Award in the spring of 2023, which is given to the person or persons deemed to have given Knox teams the most sincere and comprehensive support during any given year.
