CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Prairie Fire women's basketball team fell 77-72 at Coe on Wednesday night.
Knox held an early 9-4 advantage, but the Kohawks soon took a 15-9 lead. Coe led 17-13 after the first quarter.
The Kohawks outscored the Prairie Fire 24-14 in the second period to take a 41-27 lead at halftime.
Knox flipped the script in the third quarter with a 23-8 run to take the lead. The Prairie Fire led 57-54 heading into the final period.
Coe tied the game to open the fourth quarter and soon jumped out to an eight point lead. Knox battled back to within four with 1:20 left to play, but the Kohawks were able to hold on for the victory.
Bria Medina led the Prairie Fire with 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting. Kylee Callahan racked up a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Loraya Rocha added 14 points and Brianna Arizmendi tallied 10 boards.
"Both teams had huge runs tonight," said head coach Seth McDowell. "We really put ourselves back in the game with a great third quarter, but ended up just short in the fourth quarter. We still need to work on being more consistent throughout the game, but also a lot of good things to take away from this game."
Knox will return to action on November 21 as they host Blackburn.
