GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team earned a big 73-53 win over Principia on Tuesday night.
Knox jumped out to a 22-9 lead midway through the first half and led 42-22 at halftime.
The Panthers kept pace with the Prairie Fire with an even 31-31 score in the second half, but Knox was able to come away with the victory.
Sean Gallery led the Prairie Fire with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Sean O'Neal added 12 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting. Cole Andrews earned a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Knox outrebounded Principia 47-27 and put up 54 points in the paint to dominate the inside game.
"I really liked our effort tonight. We won that game with our defense and rebounding on a night that our outside shots weren't falling, which I believe could be our identity as a team," said head coach Ben Davis. "I'm proud of our guys for pushing through a tough week of finals and they get a well deserved break here these next couple of days."
The Prairie Fire return to action on November 21 as they host Greenville.
