BAYAMON, Puerto Rico - The Prairie Fire women's basketball team earned an 86-80 win over Manhattanville on Tuesday afternoon.
Knox scored the first six points of the game to take the early lead over the Valiants. The Prairie Fire led 23-16 after the first quarter.
Up by as many as 25 in the second quarter, the Prairie Fire held a 46-29 lead at halftime.
Knox built back up to another 25 point lead in the third period, but Manhattanville chipped away at the lead to trail just 66-57 entering the final quarter.
The Valiants pulled to within three points in the fourth period, but the Prairie Fire staved off the comeback to earn the six point victory.
Kylee Callahan led all scorers with 31 points, including a 9-of-11 showing from the charity stripe. She added eight rebounds. Nyah Daniels hit 3-of-4 treys to tack on 16 points. Loraya Rocha and Bria Medina tallied 12 points apiece.
"We came away with two hard earned victories this week," said head coach Seth McDowell. "We played very well in the first half and had to really fight in the second half to hold off a very good team. If we play like this when we return to conference play, we will have a lot of success."
Knox will return to action on January 3 as they travel to Lake Forest to resume conference play.
