AUBURNDALE, Florida - The Prairie Fire baseball team lost to Central 20-3 on Thursday afternoon.
The Dutch scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a big advantage early. Knox responded with a run in the top of the second, but Central matched the run in the bottom half.
The Prairie Fire allowed five more runs to cross the plate in the bottom of the third inning. Central then added five more in the fourth after Knox scored twice in the top half.
Holden Jones led the Prairie Fire with a triple to score two runs. Joe Williams also finished 1-for-1 with a sacrifice fly.
Joe Krantz pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to lead the pitching staff on a tough day.
"We faced a little bit of a wakeup call today," said associate head coach James Clark. "We learned what happens when you lose focus and give the other team multiple chances in an inning. We had some real trouble in the outfield today and that caused some big innings that could have easily been avoided."
Knox will return to action on March 17 as they face off against Colby-Sawyer.
