DECATUR, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped their season opener 5-0 at Millikin on Friday night.
The Big Blue scored in the fifth minute and twice more in the first half to take the early lead.
Carina Escobar picked up seven saves in goal on the night for Knox. Sara Mirani added four saves in the second half.
"It was a tough match against a great team," said head coach Annie Gerdes. "We made effective changes going into the second half and left it all on the field. We know where we need to grow and are excited to build from here."
The Prairie Fire return to action at Rose-Hulman on September 3.
