GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's soccer team dropped their conference opener 5-0 to Grinnell on Tuesday afternoon.

The Pioneers found the back of the net in the 12th minute of the game and scored twice more before halftime.

Grinnell added another goal in the 52nd minute before a weather delay stalled play. The Pioneers scored once more after play resumed.

Carina Escobar picked up 12 saves in goal for Knox.

"We started to find our rhythm on Saturday," said head coach Annie Gerdes. "We have to keep our heads up as we face a tough early conference schedule. We need to stay positive and continue working to be more consistent with our play."

The Prairie Fire return to action on September 30 as they host Lake Forest.
