LAKE FOREST, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team picked up their sixth straight win with an 85-78 victory at Lake Forest on Wednesday night.
Knox jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the first half and maintained a lead throughout the remainder of the half. The Foresters did work the score to within two with 5:34 to go in the first half, trailing the Prairie Fire just 38-36. Knox used a 12-6 run to finish out the half and take a 50-42 lead into halftime.
Lake Forest tied the game 57-57 with 13:42 to play and then took a 59-57 lead shortly after. The teams exchanged for much of the rest of the game, but the Prairie Fire pulled away in the last three minutes to claim victory.
Sean Gallery led Knox with 20 points, thanks to a 10-for-12 showing from the charity stripe. Andrew Milot added 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Sean O'Neal poured in 12 points and Chikere Nwosu tallied 10 points.
"This is another great win," said head coach Ben Davis. "We are winning close games right now and doing a lot of good things on both sides of the ball. We are limiting turnovers and crashing the boards very well."
The Prairie Fire return to action on January 6 as they host Maranatha Baptist for their final non-conference game of the season.
