Men's Basketball Runs Winning Streak to Seven

GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team picked up a 96-51 win over Maranatha Baptist on Saturday afternoon.

Knox jumped out to an 11-0 lead early in the game and never looked back. The Prairie Fire led 51-20 by halftime.

After the break, Knox used another 11-0 run to take a 42 point lead with 17:59 to play. The Prairie Fire cruised to victory, outscoring the Sabercats 45-31 in the second half.

Russell Wright led Knox with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Cole Andrews was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field, including a 3-for-3 showing from long-range, to put up 13 points. He added six rebounds. Chikere Nwosu added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

The Prairie Fire shot .594 on the day and outrebounded MBU 40-31. Knox also forced 19 turnovers.

"This was our final non-conference game and it was a nice tuneup as we head into a tough stretch of conference games," said head coach Ben Davis. "We shot very well today and will need to continue that trend in the coming weeks."

The Prairie Fire return to action on January 9 as they travel to Illinois College.
