ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Knox College cross country teams competed on Saturday at the NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by Augustana College at Saukie Golf Course, to bring their 2024 fall season to a close. Junior Lance Miller paced the Prairie Fire men while sophomore Cecilia Goodin led the charge for the women.

The five Knox men competing combined to finish in 25th place in the 31-team field, with Miller placing 41st in the 8K in 25:34.8. The junior was attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships but fell short of a top-25 finish he would have needed to do so.

Others competing for the Prairie Fire men were first-year Misha Ratner (27:46.7, 147th), junior Elliott Varnum (28:59.4, 174th), sophomore Max Lawrence (32:14.2, 212th) and first-year Chasyn Pollard (34:11.3, 217th).

Goodin turned in a time of 24:56.2 in the women's 6K, good for 118th place. But after every Knox runner two weeks ago ran a personal-best time at the Midwest Conference Championships, first-year Mary Stockdale was only one of two able to do so today, crossing the tape in 27:58.7 to shave 16 seconds off her best time and finish 170th.

Sophomore Alenis Rios also posted her personal best in 28:34.9, dropping her time by 20 seconds and claiming 179th place. Junior Eileen Sheets completed the course just ahead of Rios in 176th in 28:23:1, just eight seconds off her best time.
