BELOIT, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a conference game 78-62 at Beloit on Saturday afternoon.
Knox jumped out to a 10-3 lead early in the first half, but the Buccaneers rallied to take a 19-17 lead. After some back and forth, the teams went into halftime tied 37-37.
Beloit began the second half on a 22-6 run to take the commanding lead. The Buccaneers held on for the victory.
Sean Gallery led the Prairie Fire with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting. He added seven made free throws and six rebounds. Grant Gessert hit 3-of-6 shots from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points. Chikere Nwosu added 10 points and Russell Wright hauled in 10 rebounds.
"We started strong in the first half and then let them back into the game," said head coach Ben Davis. "Beloit came out strong in the second half and we just never recovered."
Knox will return to action on February 14 as they host Illinois College.
