GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire men's basketball team dropped a close game to Illinois College on Wednesday night.

Knox struck first when Grant Gessert grabbed a steal and hit a trey on the opening possession. The teams exchanged leads nine times in the first half with the Prairie Fire leading 30-28 at halftime.

The Blueboys took a 34-32 lead early in the second half, but Knox built up a 10 point lead with 8:32 to play. Illinois College chipped away at the lead and took a 63-62 lead with 2:21 left on the clock. Cade Windham hit a three for the Prairie Fire to retake the lead, but the Blueboys finished on a 7-1 run to earn the victory.

Sean Gallery led Knox with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Windham and Andrew Milot each tallied 10 points. Aidan Derry grabbed nine rebounds.

"We gave them a run for their money," said head coach Ben Davis. "IC is a very good team and for the majority of the game we had them on the ropes."

The Prairie Fire will celebrate Senior Day on February 17 as they host Cornell to close out the season.
