RIPON, Wisconsin - The Prairie Fire track and field teams competed in the first day of the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon.
Lance Miller placed first in the men's mile (4:16.39) to set a new conference meet record.
Peyton Balfour earned fourth place in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.14m. Abbie Layne placed sixth with a jump of 5.05m.
Megan Shafar cleared 1.50m in the women's high jump to place fifth.
"We are very proud of Lance for not only being a conference champion in the mile, but also the new conference record holder," said head coach Mark Nelson. "Lance works so hard and to see it pay off for him is amazing. Peyton, Abbie, and Megan all had great jumps as well."
Knox will return to action for day two of the MWC Championships on February 24.
