MONMOUTH, Ill. — In the final tune-up prior to the Midwest Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships next weekend, the Knox College men's and women's teams competed at Monmouth College on Saturday with two runners reaching the podium a total of three times.
Junior Lance Miller took the gold in the men's 1500 meters in 4:01.35, about a second shy of his season best. But it was about three-quarters of a second faster than the next to cross the tape, a junior college runner from Sauk Valley CC.
Over on the hurdles, senior Jacob Anderson took second in the 110 meter hurdles — with a personal-best time of 15.66 seconds — and third in the 400 meter hurdles in 58.30. He was also a part of the 4x100 meter relay team which finished third in 43.80 seconds, along with first-years Ryan Lautzenheiser and Jayvon Bolds, as well as fifth-year Eugenio King-Mills.
Speaking of Bolds, he blazed a trail in the 200 meter run, posting a PR more than half a second faster (22.31 seconds) than he had run previously, placing himself seventh in the Knox top performers list in the event.
Sophomore Cecilia Goodin recorded a season-best time of 2:27.72 in the women's 800 meters, just missing out on the podium in fourth place.
- First-year Altynai Ruslanova had a pair of PRs in the women's 100 meters (14.94 seconds) and the 200 meters (30.89 seconds).
- First-year Colson Elisme bested his top discuss throw by nearly two feet at 124 feet 3 inches (37.88 meters).
- Sophomore Nalwanga Nsubuga heaved the hammer 29.04 meters (95 feet 3 inches), more than four feet further than her previous best.
The Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships will take place at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, on May 9-10.
