GALESBURG, Illinois - The Prairie Fire women's basketball team picked up a 69-53 conference victory over Monmouth on Tuesday night.
The Fighting Scots took an early 12-6 lead in the first quarter, but Knox rallied to take a 17-14 lead into the second period.
The Prairie Fire outscored Monmouth 20-9 in the second quarter to take a 37-23 at halftime.
The Fighting Scots outscored Knox 15-13 in the third quarter, but the Prairie Fire pulled away again in the fourth to earn the win.
Nyah Daniels and Bria Media led Knox with 18 points apiece. Daniels added nine rebounds. Sarina Dacio tallied 17 points thanks to a 3-for-7 showing from beyond the arc.
"It wasn't pretty to start out, but we found our stride in the second quarter," said head coach Seth McDowell. "We have three games left in the regular season and we will look to finish strong."
The Prairie Fire return to action on February 10 as they travel to Beloit for their final away game of the season.
