DAVENPORT, Florida - The Prairie Fire baseball team earned a 17-0 victory over Principia on day two in Florida.
Knox plated three runs in the top of the first to get the scoring going early. Thomas Wilmot singled home Tyler Kemp and then Jason Clark doubled home Wilmot. Clark came around to score on an Evan Laws single.
The Prairie Fire scored 14 runs in the fourth inning to put the game away early. Laws and Etienne Thomas each cleared the bases with doubles and Holden Jones knocked a home-run in the inning.
Brandon Ward was excellent on the bump, allowing just three hits in five scoreless innings. He racked up eight strikeouts. Lucas Fujii threw a 1-2-3 inning in the sixth and Will Vines worked around a walk with three strikeouts in the seventh to secure the win.
Laws led Knox with three hits and five RBI. Thomas added four RBI. Jones and Aidan McMurtrie each added a pair of hits. Clark drove in three and Wilmot drove in a pair. Luke Mathieu also hit a double.
The Prairie Fire will return to action on March 16 as they play SUNY Canton in Lakeland, Florida.
