CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — A day after routing Eureka College by an 8-0 score, the Knox women's soccer team was unable to find its offense as host Coe College handed the Prairie Fire a 4-0 defeat. Maggie Preuss scored two of the four goals and assisted on another for the Kohawks (3-5-1), who won their third straight game, while Knox fell to 1-6 on the season.
Coe score three times in the game's first 16 minutes to quickly take control, with the first tallied by Dessa Snyder and the next two by Preuss, all unassisted.
After the Kohawks scored their fourth goal less than two minutes after the intermission, the Prairie Fire seemed to find themselves, matching Coe in the second half in shots (5) and saves (1).
- Knox was unable to get a shot off in the first half as Coe was the aggressor with eight shots, all but one on goal.
- Senior striker Aleene Ramirez took four of the Prairie Fire's five shots on the afternoon.
- First-year goalkeeper Darby Wallig entered the game in the 16th minute and recorded five saves over the remainder of the contest.
Knox returns to Galesburg to host the University of Dubuque at Jorge Prats Field for its next game on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live with stats available through PrairieFire.Knox.edu, the official website of Knox College athletics.
