GRINNELL, Iowa — The Midwest Conference announced its weekly soccer award winners today, and Knox goalkeeper Nicolas Lantzendorffer was chosen as the men's Defensive Performer of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time in his career.

A fifth-year from Guatemala, Lantzendorffer made four saves in the Prairie Fire's 2-1 victory over Coe College last Tuesday. Three of those saves came in the second half, one less than two minutes before Knox took the lead, and two more in the next seven minutes to maintain that lead.

For the season, Lantzendorffer has played in all nine games for the 3-5-1 Prairie Fire, starting seven while posting a 2-3-1 record. His performance against the Kohawks improved his save percentage on the season to .745.

An All-MWC First Team performer as a sophomore, Lantzendorffer added Academic All-MWC honors in 2022-23.

  • Lantzendorffer first picked up this award as a sophomore (Oct. 4, 2021) after registering shutouts against Grinnell and Beloit
  • Last year, he received the honor on Sept. 25 for a 3-1 win over Illinois Wesleyan and a scoreless tie with Coe College, making nine saves in the two games combined
  • He took home the prize four weeks ago as well following a game and a season-opening shutout of Rockford University and a scoreless half at Saint Ambrose University.

Knox starts conference play next at Grinnell tomorrow (Oct. 1) at 4 p.m. Live video and stats of the contest will be accessible through the official athletics website of Knox College, PrairieFire.Knox.edu.
