GALESBURG, Ill. — The Knox College athletics department today revealed its Male and Female Athletes of the Week for events that occurred between Nov. 10-16, with the honors going to junior Bria Medina of the women's basketball team and senior Lance Miller of the men's cross country squad.
Medina, who is from Tucson, Arizona, continued her scoring splurge to start the 2025-26 season, scoring 26 points in a loss to Aurora University on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The point guard knocked down 8-of-20 field goals with a 3-pointer, plus converted 9-of-10 free throws for her third 20-point game in as many contests this campaign. Medina leads the Midwest Conference with 26.7 points per game and 3.7 steals a night. She is also just 10 points shy of becoming the sixth player in program history to score 1,000 points in a career.
Running at the Midwest Regional this past Saturday, Miller became just the second athlete in Prairie Fire history to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships and the first in 32 years. He ran the 8K course in 24:56.7 to finish 20th overall, the second fastest time in program history, and was one of the top seven finishers not from an NCAA qualifying team, which earned him his spot at nationals. The native of Mascoutah, Illinois, now owns the top four 8K times at Knox and six of the top 10, and on Saturday will compete in the NCAA 8K in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Knox Athletes of the Week will be announced every Tuesday afternoon throughout the athletic calendar.
